Singer Of Popular Song ‘Surat Akhir’ Releases New Single ‘Tragedi’ (OST For ‘Malaysian Ghost Stories’ Drama Series)
KUALA LUMPUR, September 2021 – Not long after the release of ‘Surat Akhir’ early this year, Nadira Amira Othman or better known as Amira Othman releases yet another single entitled ‘Tragedi’ which has been chosen as the official original soundtrack (OST) for Astro’s latest horror drama series ‘Malaysian Ghost Stories’.
The horror-themed drama series will start airing on 25th August every Monday to Thursday at 11:00 pm. It consists of 48 episodes showcasing real-life supernatural experiences by Malaysia’s big names such as Ara Johari, Janna Nick, Zahiril Adzim and others.
According to Amira, the song was originally composed back in 2011. Though at that time, she was not even a mainstream singer.
“I actually made this song before joining AF, and at that time I daydreamed of becoming a singer one day. The melody was created by award-winning composer, Sharon Paul, and I wrote the lyrics myself,” she said.
Amira’s rise to fame came after she starred in the hit drama series ‘Abang Bomba I Love You’ alongside popular actor, Hisyam Hamid.
“I feel blessed by the pouring of offers although the country is still facing the COVID-19 at large. After a 2-year hiatus, and fully recovered from my knee injury, I feel I’m ready more than ever to make a comeback.
“Just short of 3 months from the release of Surat Akhir, I received an offer from TV director, Mr. Izuan Mokhtar stating his interest to feature me for his upcoming project,” she said.
“The song which was originally produced back in 2011 had to be re-recorded because of the difference in my tone. So my management decided we should re-do everything and it was completed last May. It didn’t take long for me to record the song because I already knew it by heart, after all the song holds a sentimental value since it’s the first song I ever made,” she said
Amira first started her musical journey after joining singing competition Akademi Fantasia season-10 in 2013. But it was her single ‘Hati-hati’ that catapulted her career as a mainstream singer, thus creating more opportunities for her as an artiste.
“I must admit I’m quite the perfectionist in creating a musical number. And now, I need to learn how to manage my time so it won’t create a long interval in between my next single’” she said.
According to Mr. Jipie, Head of Label & Publishing, Rocketfuel Entertainment, “Amira is a singer with a clean image. She is a role-model for teens out there because of the qualities she possesses. In addition, she’s a creative lyricist and very hardworking, and not to mention she is very meticulous in everything she does.
“I hope this single will create a lot of buzz for Amira since it’ll be the official OST for Malaysian Ghost Stories for which I’m sure will garner more attention among horror fans.
The Movement Control Order (MCO) period which is still taking place has opened more doors for Amira by allowing her to become multiple brand ambassadors.
“Ever since the MCO started, I’ve been doing a lot of activities at home to keep myself busy. While we are still facing this pandemic, I urge everyone to lend a hand to those in need and try to reach out to family and friends or even acquaintances who are going through a hard time. May we retain this ukhwah and continue holding out an olive branch to those affected by the pandemic, In Shaa Allah.
Lastly, I just hope music fans out there will enjoy listening to Tragedi and not get too ‘spooked’ out
by it. And I too hope my existence in the local music scene will continue to flourish,” she ended.
Tragedi is available for download on iTunes Store and as a caller ringtone from all major telecommunication service providers and could be easily streamed and enjoyed through various music-streaming portals such as Apple Music, Spotify, Joox, YouTube Music, KKBox and Deezer, while the official lyric video is available for viewing exclusively on the Rocketfuel Network YouTube channel.
