Petite Rap Powerhouse Returns With A Banging New Number Composed By U.S.-Based Musician, The Cxdy
KUALA LUMPUR, 16 October 2020 - They say big things come in small packages, so please make way for our very own petite rap powerhouse who needs no introduction, Wan Nur Khaleda Aziz or famously known as Kayda, 29, as she returns with a banging new single entitled ‘Autopilot’ featuring newcomer rap artist all the way from America, Ish, composed and produced by Kayda herself in a collaborative effort with Ish and renowned U.S.-based composer, The Cxdy.
Kayda who is currently busy promoting her latest song ‘Skills4All’ with KRU Music and Waris, an initiative by the Ministry of Human Resources to encourage and promote technical and vocational education among high school leavers said, “Autopilot is about my journey in music, from performing at hip-hop gigs in my teens, to putting out my music on MySpace and staying consistent in making more music without thinking too much about it.
I went into the studio, met my friends, chose the beat, recorded whatever I’ve already pre-written at home and everything seemed to gel.
And after that a friend approached me wanting to sponsor the music video, and the whole project felt like it was on ‘Autopilot’, hence the title.”
Autopilot which was recorded at Kaya Butter Studio took only a few hours to be completed, she explained, “Actually the song and music video have been recorded and shot more than a year ago in July 2019, but at that time my management advised that it’s best to put it on hold first, so I trusted their decision.”
Kayda added, “The lesson here is to trust your journey, and allow things to fall into place without forcing anything, things were not always smooth for me but at the end, what’s meant for me will happen, as I take it one day at a time while being on ‘Autopilot’.”
For newcomer rap artist, Ish, of Malay-American parentage, she mentioned, “We met during the 2nd season of 16 Baris audition and he told me that he wanted to learn to rap in Malay, and at that time I was also looking for a fresh young talent to be featured in my upcoming single, so I guess it was meant to be. Ish gave a lot of creative ideas in songwriting, a mad freestyler to boot and probably one of the best rappers I came across that's able to freestyle so incredibly well.”
For Kayda, he journey has just begun, “I hope both men and women out there will be able to relate to this song because the main message is to encourage people to keep on going in whatever they want to pursue, I believe in the saying ‘notice the little things in life because when you look back you will realize they were the big things’.
It’s all about perspective, the struggles, but what's important is how you respond to it, and make do of what you already have and focus on the present while allowing things to fall into place without forcing anything, carry on with life one day at a time, accept people who genuinely want to help you, learn, have a bit of fun along the way as you go on ‘autopilot’.”
‘Autopilot’ is available for download on iTunes and as a caller ringtone from all major telecommunication service providers and could be enjoyed through various music-streaming portals such as Spotify, Joox, Deezer and Apple Music.
The official music video is also available for viewing exclusively on the Warner Music MY YouTube Channel
